Trading Diary ~ Thursday 18th October 2012

7:15pm   ~   Bit of a frustrating day for as far as computers are concerned, I lost my broadband signal at 8am and it was not reinstated properly until 3 hours ago although I did have short periods where it came back for 10 minutes or so. Annoyingly, I’ve not got my Vodafone Dongle here either, that’s back in Essex. I spent most of the day around the house checking to see whether I had internet access yet, although I did manage to get out for a late brunch at The Crown plus a cycle ride across the river to Walberswick and down to Dunwich along the coast.

Anyway – the big news of this afternoon/evening on the markets is the large drop in the U.S. stock market caused by the early release of Google’s disappointing third quarter earnings - normally information like this is sent out after trading hours, but there was an apparent glitch in this process and an agent of Google had a fat-finger moment meaning the figures came out prematurely just after 5:30pm (UK time)

I was watching my S&P500 chart at this time, and I had my own signal from my “evening” system right on 5 o’clock for a short entry, so I was actually in the market before this large drop – I came out a short while ago with a 58 pip profit. Off to a friend’s house now for a card evening.

So far this week my evening trading has given me 118 pips from 4 winning trades and one loss.

Daily Target Reached ?  YES  (+58 pips)    I traded for just over two hours this evening
