Wednesday 16th May ~ Bond Yields Up Again

10:20am  ~  Latest European news can be read here, you can see the thoughts of Capital Spread’s boss, Simon Denham. He does sum up the market quite well every day, reading his comment is a good way to start your trading day.

Although I had a late night here, I did not sleep particularly well and I found myself in the kitchen at 6am fixing a strong coffee and turning on the big screened PC I have in there. While scanning through my favourite charts, I did manage to spot two opportunities, the first on the Gold chart (at 6:30am) and also one on my Brent Crude chart an hour or so later. Between them they gave my account a boost of only 50 pips as the latter trade was closed off at break even after a promising start which eventually came to nothing – never mind, no trader can be right every time !

I am off to Colchester now to pick up one of my cars that’s been for a service at Lancaster Garages and then carrying on from there to my cottage in Suffolk. I will report back later if I manage to do any evening trading.

8:25pm  ~  I got up here at 2pm after dropping off at Colchester on my way through, and immediately got my road bike out and had a lovely ride across to Halesworth and back for an hour or so.  My iPhone died during the journey so I have no idea the exact miles covered – I have an excellent personal training app which even gives calories burnt as well as average speed, distance etc.

Anyway – back here afterwards, I switched this laptop on just after 5 o’clock to watch for trade signals on my “Evening” trading system and just before 6pm I found myself in the market with a short trade. The S&P came down very well over the past few hours and a few minutes ago I closed the trade off with a nice profit of +70 pips.

Off to the Lord Nelson (The Nellie) now for a few pints and a bit of supper with some friends.

Daily Target Reached Today ? YES (+120 pips)     I traded for a few hours this morning plus the evening session.
